About St. Gertrude

St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Elementary School has served the students and families of Bell Gardens, California since its opening in 1950. Rooted in St. John Bosco's educational philosophy of Faith, Reason, and Loving Kindness, our approach is focused on the growth of the whole person–body, heart, mind, and spirit. St. Gertrude the Great Catholic School is committed to providing a competitive, academic curriculum in a family atmosphere whereby each student is accepted, encouraged and supported, making St. John Bosco’s dream for youth a reality. St. Gertrude joined the Seton Blended Learning Network in 2014 in order to prepare our students for the demands of the 21st century through innovative technology, personalized learning paths, and targeted small group instruction. Students and teachers at St. Gertrude work together in a college-focused environment to set and track goals while simultaneously celebrating progress. St. Gertrude was the second Seton Blended Learning Network partner school in Los Angeles. Since then, the school has increased enrollment by 20% and demonstrated growth on par with or outpacing that of many high-performing charter networks.
